DUAL INDUCTION, ALSO REFERRED TO AS INDUCTION, DUAL, DIL, AND DIL 38

The DIL38 induction conductivity probe is an instrument that generates an electromagnetic field in the vicinity of the borehole and measures the response of the formations to this applied field. The probe acquires in-phase measurements on both long (CILD) and medium spacing (CILM) receivers and subsequently digitizes these measurements, which are then transmitted to the surface equipment. This process facilitates the acquisition of formation conductivity and reciprocal resistivity data, even in dry or PVC-equipped boreholes. The probe’s design, which includes a relatively low operating frequency and a coil array configuration, is intended to minimize borehole effects while maximizing both the depth of investigation and the vertical resolution. Additionally, the probe is equipped with a natural gamma detector, which can be utilized to provide supplementary lithological information or for correlation.

It comprises (5) separate measures:

• GR Gamma Ray

A great tool to determine bedding in PVC-cased wells. As with all induction, tool accuracy is highest at lower resistivity. Spontaneous potential (SP) and Gamma-Ray (GR) measurements are also recorded to aid in lithological identification.
