Heat-Pulse Flowmeter

Heat-Pulse Flowmeter

The Heat Pulse Flowmeter operates by generating a thermal pulse that induces a localized temperature change in the water column within a well or borehole. This pulse passes through a fine thermal grid, and two thermistors—positioned above and below the grid—detect the movement of the heat pulse as it is carried by the vertical flow of water. By measuring the time it takes for the heat pulse to reach each thermistor, both the flow rate and the direction of flow (upward or downward) can be accurately determined.
